What life means to an almost 21 year old

I think we like to copy to the point of replication but that is not the point of life. For one it may be that for you to get to a forever happy or an almost always happy state you need to go through a couple of WTF years and being able to accept one's fate and overcome whatever challenges it comes with is the definition of living. However a lot of us find ourselves not living our authentic and true life because we are too busy living an exact copy of somebody's life and in the process only delaying the time for us to truly start living our own lives, thus people dying and feeling or their loved one's they leave behind feeling like they still had a lot to do, because living a shadow life can only make you so happy. Living and life for me is accepting your screw up's changing them if they bother you enough, accepting them if they don't and not being ashamed of them at any time or place, its being able to be in your own skin and not give a rat's ass what the person next to you thinks, its doing not what society expects but what you expect and can proudly and loudly live with and its knowing that karma is a bitch and that a universe does exists that does eventually put things into balance and that is you knowing you don't get away with being bad forever, bad will catch up with you and it won't be so nice and last that we all have our reasons of existence for ourselves and for the universe in which we exist. If you die having fulfilled your personal reasons for existing big up'a for you, however if you die not feeling like you have done something of value personally um sure the universe has gotten its worth of you, and live and let live because not one of us knows how they will die, being precautious does not mean you will not die just that you will probably die in what I would term a boring way e.g. Just sitting down or something despite your efforts to avoid dangerous possible death ways, in any case there is nothing safe about going out into the world because you can only control yourself; nevertheless when the universe can no longer accommodate you, die you will. We shall cry and mourn you for the longest time but we all are in the end destined for the same fate, the best favour you can do yourself is live and try to not be so judgemental because each person has a flaw and no one has or should feel they have the power to grade flaws.

DATING AND MONEY

I just called Duma FM radio station to win a Fish and Chips ticket meal, and I managed to go through(its been my dream to call into radio and win something.....so finally!!!). Anyway after securing my win and giving all the relevant details they ask me if I would date someone who had a lower earning than mine. This was not a question I was expecting and the answer I gave kind of illustrated that. However the host was persistent and asked again so I said it would depend. And now that I think about it and really assess it, being a student and dating someone with an earning that is less than mine would just make things difficult and that is just the reality of it.And it leads me to ask; just what would he be doing earning less than P1400.00 and that is not a comforting thought because he would most probably be uneducated so much he qualifies only for odd jobs and honestly I need a person who can challenge me mentally, an equal or higher so that I am inspired to do and be more. Its nice that a guy who asks me out like me genuinely of course but a girl does like to be spoiled and taken out even for ice cream at the very least. Also I believe that dating has strata, in that you must ask a person out who is in your level or who is lower so that you appeal to them. Asking a girl out who has direction and climbing the financial and social ladder and you are working odd jobs is not going to make for a very sustainable relationship for almost all cases because then she has to kind of lower her status to accommodate you and no one can live an unauthentic life for very long and also I think one should be intimidated away from asking such a person out . Dating a guy with a higher earning at this juncture in my life I must admit would be awesome because I think if he wanted to, spoiling me would not be so difficult or headache inducing. The reality is as a student I can use all the help I can financially and on that note I saw a beautiful P400.00 bag at Milady's and I just wished for a cash injection; trying to figure out legit ways of making the money for that bag.

BOTSWANA POLITICIANS

I am being this insightful I think because of the book I am currently reading by Thomas something....  called DID BIG BROTHER GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO GO WEE WEE. Now I am going to restrict myself to my home country because it is the country with the most information and experience I have.
There are a couple of issues that I will address starting with the one that annoys me the most and that is of how the people who before going to parliament were just normal people with normal brain power and probarbly less smart than the majority of the people and how when they get to parliament think for some reason they have gotten smarter. They act on their own impulses and don't listen to alternative opinions and insights which I think puts our very lives in jeorpady as we have a not so smart person feeling and acting like a know it all not that know it all's exist.
Another problem  they have is they think they are running their households in parliament and therefore don't need to answer to no laymen. Newsflash for the respectable elders of my nation, we the people have put you in that comfortable chair and all those allowances you are getting are all thanks to our precious vote. So I think our members of parliament need to suit up and answer to us when we demand they give us answers for why for example our education system is crubling down like the Berlin wall. It is not doing us a favour it is proving that the job we have put you up to, you can manage to do or at least are willing to ask for help so we could move forward as a nation not what is currently happening.
I have seen a few MP's whom when the people of their constituencies complained they don't see much of were just very rude and the answers they were giving gave the impression that the people are crazy to expect them to see them as much as they were demanding. This is irritating because if a person is going to vote you in, then by damn you must make time for them, if it is too much to do right by your people then by all means step down and let those who are up for the job do it.
Also I say we need a new generation of politicians because the ones we have now are recycling all the evidently not very effective policies they have been using for 40 years. Dare I say that it is election year and we do not have a viable candidate for the vice presidency seeing the way the vote is promising to go which is a shame.
As for the special elects you can rest at ease for now as this rant applies only to those who got to parliament by popular vote.

We need accountability, it is not a privilege it is a must, part of the package.

I JUST DON'T GET IT
I just don't get why some parents spoil their children who do nothing to show they appreciate what their parents have had to sacrifice to get them the lavida loca.
I just don't get women who allow themselves to be abused by their so called men when they never saw such at home growing up. I just wonder what makes them resign to such degradation by another woman's child.
I just don't get people who live their lives to make other people happy(we do sometimes each succumb to this one) but i don't get the people who are comfortable with it.
I don't get the young generation (of which I am admittedly a part of) who don't appreciate their culture. I mean who are you if you cant appreciate your roots. I am not saying there is anything wrong with liking new stuff and moving with the times but give homage and respect to culture.
I just don't get men who claim to love their women and respect them and yet they go out to "buy" and also cheat with young girls who really have nothing on their wives, which really isn't within the point anyway.
I don't get people who are apologetic to people who have wronged them. I mean bitch you should be apologising to me not the other way around.
.......
Feel free to add anything you don't get

FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION

I do hope that one day Batswana will get over the aversion they have to people who ask the relevant and inquisitive questions to the people they have put in power. I have noticed that as a nation we find it wrong or too forward when someone asks and takes to task the decisions of the authorities and or government. I don't get why though as we claim to be a democratic country! When we vote and put people into government, we do so, so that they represent our interests and these people are answerable to us as the voters and as such we should ask them without fear why they make the decisions they do. I really appreciated a man who commented on Gabz fm this morning and said that ministers are our servants and answer to us since we put them in power. I also appreciated how the honourable minister Tshekedi Khama was being involved and not afraid to engage in an issue involving his ministry that is causing controversy in the country with regards to a pair of lions and how they got into the hands of another minister. If we as a nation don't inquire on how our national resources are used and disbursed then we stand to lose them to misuse and corruption. It is only through questioning that we could ensure that resources are being used appropriately and I implore on the other ministers not to shy away from issues but face them head on; this will illustrate to us the voters that they know what they are doing and make the right decisions in our interest not their own. The more a minister dodges the people the more we think they have something to hide. So ladies and gentlemen who have been elected into power please take note that you did not put yourself in that comfortable chair, we did  through our votes and if we want answers from you, you must provide them promptly without feeling like you are being bothered because that's what you are there for, US THE PEOPLE. We can just as easily vote you out. Thank you

SINGLETONS
I am fully convinced that there are just some people who for a while prefer not to date! I know if you are a guy the main assumption becomes that you are gay, which is not a bad thing(though that depends largely on how liberal you are) and if you are a girl it is assumed you are an emotional wreck. I think i am not one but for the life of me i dont have the inclination to be anybody's special anything. Its just about being at ease and in love with myself and not ye twilling to share that love but whatever the case may be i know i am happier now than i have ever been since starting to get into the dating thing. Unfortuantely this revelation came at the time of an attempted realtionship with a guy i like a lot but evidently not enough. I am glad i realised that i am not yet ready to share my love before it got any deeper and that i was able to be honest about it to myself(most inportantly) and to the guy i was with

#its not a bad thing to be alone, if you can be at ease and happy alone you should be able to hadle being with other people because then you will be assured of your identity.

UNIVERSITY STANDARDS
Let me just start by saying if you want to be taken serious you have to be seen to be serious. Now on this note I really think my University the University of Botswana being the only University of the country should really stop letting their students determine which "beat they dance to" in a manner of speaking. Students now are complaining that they are being given material fit only for an Oxford, Harvard graduate etc and they feel its not fair! Really now!? Sue me for making you competitive in the real market for jobs! And really if the University is going to say how high each time the students complain then I am afraid we will be leaving here with worthless degrees. I think the University needs to set its own standards of the quality and the complexity of the exams, tests they administer and if anyone cannot step up they should just ship out! Be aware that I am  saying this as a student. We need to up our game if we want to compete with the outer world, next thing we complain we cant find jobs and we claim not to know why! Mr Magang did say not so long ago that we are not producing quality workers in our higher level education and I think this is precisely why! Caving in each time students say a test was not fair yet all the material they were tested on they were taught! I think there is a huge difference between a test not being fair and failing because of that or failing because you did not put in the effort or that despite the effort you just did not understand in which case then you need to rethink your course choices.
