ELECTIONS

You want to know what I think? Well maybe not but here goes anyway.
I think that we have questioned the eligibility of the UDC based on the fact that they are a coalition of parties and we think that they are unstable and therefore will not be able to reach decisions on anything once in governance. Ok maybe this view is wholly justified because of the history on coalitions in Botswana. However my view is this, just because the BDP and BCP constitute one huge party that does not  make them stable and this is why I hold this assertion;  for one the majority of BDP members are afraid to or at least it would seem like they are either afraid to come up with radical, logical ideas on how the country should be run and developed which are different from what the president thinks or if they do then they are not being listened to. I think it is a good thing, if not  a beautiful thing to have members within a party disagree- this leads to discourse and discourse leads to a divergent pool of ideas and thus creating  an abundance of good ideas to pick from that are actually sustainable and bad ideas to be identified and discarded- its all about weighing the ideas based on what is good for the country now and going forward beause we are preparing this country for future generations.  We cannot be content with a government in which the leader of the people by the people can make a decision based on his and his alone- personal values and dislikes and impose them on the rest of us. We need to identify and encourage a party that allows for different views and actually encourages them- for as long as people are different they should never give the impression that they agree on everything because then they are not only lying to the public but to themselves as well and a person in denial of their truth is a person beyond help or beyond helping or leading anyone else for that matter. We need representatives who will question the leadership for us in parliament not people who will go along with everything even when they know its not in the best interest of anything or anyone to go along with them.  So I say conflict within parties is good- lets encourage it but let the parties know how to then reach a compromise that is good for them and the nation of this beautiful country. #Iadvocateforpluralisticviews.

COMMUNITY

It is amazing how we Batswana have lost a sense of this in the most simplest of ways. I've seen this happen before- even I am guilty of having done it- which is not doing anything even when you can clearly see that the next person needs your help. A classic example is moving when the person in front of you falls, for whatever reason. Why not provide support for that person so they don't have to hit the ground so hard. I personally have moved and I felt so guilty afterwards. I can't even justify why I moved. Another example is when you see someone being swindled, robbed or being attacked by a bunch of low life hooligans. Why can't all of us right minded, rational people help that person. Its in very rare occasions that someone will help. The majority of the time we straighten our clothes and feign blindness to what's happening- all the while um sure thinking its none of our business. Of which this is bullshit because us not stopping or helping to stop such acts is just perpetuating the fools who think they can live off terrorising other people. When have masses ever failed in achieving results, we need to start being proactive in making our surroundings safe because if it can happen to someone else in an environment you frequent, what makes you think it will not happen to you too. Stand up and let's help to fight crime and let's promote solidarity. Being human is the only connecting thing we have and need as an excuse to help each other.

 BEAUTY

This is such an illusive concept that we go to the worst of all efforts and measures to be beautiful. Who in any case has the right to determine beauty and who sets the standard and why should that person or group of people have such a privilege to detemine what qualifies as beautiful; what do they have or possess that should render them that influencial? I think everyone has their own beauty. Of course I am one of those people guilty of saying one person or another could do with their certain feature aligned a different way or looking differently altogether and I am even guilty of such unfounded criticism on myself. However I realise on the few days that I am rational and non-judgemental and non-caring about the feeble worries of the world that if beauty was a particular thing then we would not be able to differentiate between one person and another and be able to identify a character or trait that we loved in the people we love because we would all be beautiful the same way. Beauty I think is being yourself and having the confidence to carry yourself and not be apologetic because after all no one has the choice on how they are born looking like or how their features are set. Its all just a matter of coincidence and genetic influence and therefore no one should be made to feel less than for something that they had no hand in determining. However this does not go for those people who actively engage in unhealthy behaviours of not exercising and eating right but applies to the nature of the person. Lets all stop chasing illusive concepts of beauty and celebrate who and what we have been born to be. The trick after much consideration and probing to find what beauty is I think lies in knowing that because we are different we cannot expect to have features we find desirable in other people we can however embrace and accept our own features and thus enabling othe people to accept them and embrace them as well, because if you are uncomfortable with yourself or something about you, from whom are people around you supposed to learn to accept them other than yourself.
What life means to an almost 21 year old

I think we like to copy to the point of replication but that is not the point of life. For one it may be that for you to get to a forever happy or an almost always happy state you need to go through a couple of WTF years and being able to accept one's fate and overcome whatever challenges it comes with is the definition of living. However a lot of us find ourselves not living our authentic and true life because we are too busy living an exact copy of somebody's life and in the process only delaying the time for us to truly start living our own lives, thus people dying and feeling or their loved one's they leave behind feeling like they still had a lot to do, because living a shadow life can only make you so happy. Living and life for me is accepting your screw up's changing them if they bother you enough, accepting them if they don't and not being ashamed of them at any time or place, its being able to be in your own skin and not give a rat's ass what the person next to you thinks, its doing not what society expects but what you expect and can proudly and loudly live with and its knowing that karma is a bitch and that a universe does exists that does eventually put things into balance and that is you knowing you don't get away with being bad forever, bad will catch up with you and it won't be so nice and last that we all have our reasons of existence for ourselves and for the universe in which we exist. If you die having fulfilled your personal reasons for existing big up'a for you, however if you die not feeling like you have done something of value personally um sure the universe has gotten its worth of you, and live and let live because not one of us knows how they will die, being precautious does not mean you will not die just that you will probably die in what I would term a boring way e.g. Just sitting down or something despite your efforts to avoid dangerous possible death ways, in any case there is nothing safe about going out into the world because you can only control yourself; nevertheless when the universe can no longer accommodate you, die you will. We shall cry and mourn you for the longest time but we all are in the end destined for the same fate, the best favour you can do yourself is live and try to not be so judgemental because each person has a flaw and no one has or should feel they have the power to grade flaws.

DATING AND MONEY

I just called Duma FM radio station to win a Fish and Chips ticket meal, and I managed to go through(its been my dream to call into radio and win something.....so finally!!!). Anyway after securing my win and giving all the relevant details they ask me if I would date someone who had a lower earning than mine. This was not a question I was expecting and the answer I gave kind of illustrated that. However the host was persistent and asked again so I said it would depend. And now that I think about it and really assess it, being a student and dating someone with an earning that is less than mine would just make things difficult and that is just the reality of it.And it leads me to ask; just what would he be doing earning less than P1400.00 and that is not a comforting thought because he would most probably be uneducated so much he qualifies only for odd jobs and honestly I need a person who can challenge me mentally, an equal or higher so that I am inspired to do and be more. Its nice that a guy who asks me out like me genuinely of course but a girl does like to be spoiled and taken out even for ice cream at the very least. Also I believe that dating has strata, in that you must ask a person out who is in your level or who is lower so that you appeal to them. Asking a girl out who has direction and climbing the financial and social ladder and you are working odd jobs is not going to make for a very sustainable relationship for almost all cases because then she has to kind of lower her status to accommodate you and no one can live an unauthentic life for very long and also I think one should be intimidated away from asking such a person out . Dating a guy with a higher earning at this juncture in my life I must admit would be awesome because I think if he wanted to, spoiling me would not be so difficult or headache inducing. The reality is as a student I can use all the help I can financially and on that note I saw a beautiful P400.00 bag at Milady's and I just wished for a cash injection; trying to figure out legit ways of making the money for that bag.

BOTSWANA POLITICIANS

I am being this insightful I think because of the book I am currently reading by Thomas something....  called DID BIG BROTHER GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO GO WEE WEE. Now I am going to restrict myself to my home country because it is the country with the most information and experience I have.
There are a couple of issues that I will address starting with the one that annoys me the most and that is of how the people who before going to parliament were just normal people with normal brain power and probarbly less smart than the majority of the people and how when they get to parliament think for some reason they have gotten smarter. They act on their own impulses and don't listen to alternative opinions and insights which I think puts our very lives in jeorpady as we have a not so smart person feeling and acting like a know it all not that know it all's exist.
Another problem  they have is they think they are running their households in parliament and therefore don't need to answer to no laymen. Newsflash for the respectable elders of my nation, we the people have put you in that comfortable chair and all those allowances you are getting are all thanks to our precious vote. So I think our members of parliament need to suit up and answer to us when we demand they give us answers for why for example our education system is crubling down like the Berlin wall. It is not doing us a favour it is proving that the job we have put you up to, you can manage to do or at least are willing to ask for help so we could move forward as a nation not what is currently happening.
I have seen a few MP's whom when the people of their constituencies complained they don't see much of were just very rude and the answers they were giving gave the impression that the people are crazy to expect them to see them as much as they were demanding. This is irritating because if a person is going to vote you in, then by damn you must make time for them, if it is too much to do right by your people then by all means step down and let those who are up for the job do it.
Also I say we need a new generation of politicians because the ones we have now are recycling all the evidently not very effective policies they have been using for 40 years. Dare I say that it is election year and we do not have a viable candidate for the vice presidency seeing the way the vote is promising to go which is a shame.
As for the special elects you can rest at ease for now as this rant applies only to those who got to parliament by popular vote.

We need accountability, it is not a privilege it is a must, part of the package.
